Is the Switch Light Bulbs Company Dead?

Indications are Switch may be shut down. I have not been able to confirm this. If anyone has hard facts, please share in the comments.

Someone contacted me and suggested I search Facebook for a comment about the possible demise of the Switch Light Bulbs Company. I found this note from Aug. 3:

Too bad the company lost their funding. The Switch bulbs were the best, hands-down. I have close to twenty in my home and only found out they were out of business as a result of trying to buy more bulbs. A real shame -- nothing comes close, at least yet.

The Switch website is down and has been at least all day today (as confirmed here).

The phone number given on the company's Facebook page has been disconnected.

Its Twitter account, @switch-light-bulb, has not had a posting since February of this year.

I called VantagePoint Capital Partners, an investor in Switch, and reached Gene Gable there. He said, "I consider them still somewhat alive; I believe there is a team still in place." He also said he had not received an update on the company in several weeks. When told that Switch's phone has been disconnected, Gable commented, "That would be somewhat concerning."
